Ollie in karting action at Autosport International Show

Ollie Millroy will make his first appearance of the season in next Friday’s BP Ultimate 102 unleaded Celebrity Kart Challenge at Autosport International in Birmingham. The 17 year-old who recently confirmed his signing for Fisichella Motor Sport International to contest the inaugural Formula BMW Europe championship, will join top sportscar driver Tim Sugden in a team sponsored by NARA the National Association for the Relief of Apnoea.
The Claygate teenager who became the only British driver to win a BMW Scholarship this season, joins some of the top names in British and International motorsport racing around the indoor kart track.  For the former ICA British Super 1 Kart Champion, the event marks a return to his roots before he tackles his first ever car race when the FBMW Europe series gets underway in April.
“This will be the second kart race I’ve done since I started in car racing, having contested the Johnny Herbert event before Christmas and I’m really looking forward to getting back into a kart. The Autosport International Show is a great show, which I go to every year, but this year there will be a lot more for me to do following my signing with FMSI and Zanarini Management.
“It’s great to be able to take some time out to have fun racing with some of the top names in motorsport while raising funds for some very worthwhile charities including ours at http://www.thebreathingcharity.org.uk/.”
Organisers Racing4charity.com has set a target of £50,000 and with three team sponsors already supporting three charities, have raised £38,000 so far. Ollie’s team, Hysterical Racing is managed by NARA organiser Mike Jiggle who runs the charity which provides advice, information, medical equipment and 24 hour support to those who suffer respiratory problems in the UK.
A limited number of public drivers can join the stars for just £300.00, the total amount will be banked and awarded to the winning team's chosen charity and there are still a couple of places remaining. For more information contact Bill Williams at bill@racing4charity.com
Friday’s event kicks off with qualifying at 14.00 following a mandatory safety briefing with a public driver fast lap shootout at 14.30.  The 90 minute race gets underway at 14.45 and the awards presentation take place at 16.20.
The four-day Autosport International is open to trade and media only on Thursday and Friday and opens to the general public on Saturday and Sunday January 12th and 13th. For more information about the show visit the official website at www.autosport-international.com
