World Cup for KF2, Alcaniz (Spain), 20 September 2009

After stopping second fastest time in Friday’s qualifying (59”055) at one tenth from French driver Brandon Maisano (LH/Maxter), the Italian driver looks to be the favourite for the final win.

Two Italian drivers, Smarrazzo (Tonykart/Vortex) and Tiene(Kosmic/Vortex) were also protagonist in the heats taking three wins the former and two wins the latter, as Spaniard Da Luz (Zanardi/Parilla) took one.
Next to Viganò on row 1 start for the prefinal, Kosmic driver Felice Tiene is just in front of Smarrazzo and Da Luz on row 2.
A difficult start to the weekend for European KF2 Champion Jordan Chamberlain (Tonykart/TM), who only managed to stop 29th fastest time in qualifying due to a bent chassis but recovered well in the heats (5, 15, 4, 6).

Following the successful experiment of the cameras mounted on karts in Sarno early this month, cameras have been mounted also for this event, inducing drivers to be more careful and play fairly in the starting procedure. As a result, accidents and unsportsmanlike behaviour have been reduced to the minimum. Everyone in the paddock is positive about this temporary – not definitive! – solution.
