Rotax Grand Finals - Daily report 10-11

Press Release by:
This year’s Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF) is hosted by New Orleans’ NOLA Motorsports Park. Form karting to clubbing, this city has it all. So, it doesn’t come a surprise that this year’s attendance is a whopping 360 racers, coming from close to 60 countries around the world.

Located in New Orleans, this is the first time for the RMCGF to be hosted on American turf. As more and more drivers, mechanics, and team members trickle in, enjoying a taste of the American way of life, one can feel the race atmosphere intensify. 72 Mini and Micro MAX drivers from America, Mexico and Canada are signed up to compete in a three-day invitational event, while the other 288 entrants will compete in Junior MAX, 125 MAX, DD2 and DD2 Masters Rotax categories. We would also like to cordially thank our six chassis partners for the 2013 Grand Finals– Energy (125 Junior), SODI (125 MAX), CRG (125 DD2), Praga (125 DD2 Masters), Haase (125 Micro MAX), and OK1 (125 Mini MAX).

As the day continues to progress, individuals have already been bustling about, beginning on a hard week’s worth of work. Enthusiastic competitors scuttled to registration, which started today. The authorities responsible for the scrutineering of driver equipment also commenced their rounds. Fortunately, for those who have already arrived today, a welcome party awaits at 6 pm. Although the party may not be hosted on the infamous Bourbon Street, it is either a great way to relax from a demanding journey or just a great way to get to know your future competitors.

This RMCGF will be a very interesting event to witness. For instance, two 125 MAX DD2 world champions, Pier-Luc Ouelette and Ben Cooper, both racing under Team Canada’s flag, will be competing for the top step of the podium. This track layout, coupled with technical and high-speed sections, will make each and every driver work to squeeze out the last few hundredths or tenths of a second.

Before we wrap up this daily report, however, BRP-Powertrain would like to say thank you to the whole of the Rotax racing community. Without the pure dedication of the Rotax karting population, BRP-Powertrain would not have been able to institute the exciting Grand Finals events as it has, in the past.

Remember to stay alert for our next few posts, keeping you up to date with the intense action of the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals.

The Rotax MAX Challenge (RMC) is a professional kart racing series established, owned and organized by BRP and its Rotax kart engine distributors. Approved by and in compliance with CIK / FIA, the RMC is a "one-make-engine" formula: only Rotax kart engines that are checked and sealed (for equal performance) are allowed. The success in the competition is mainly up to the skills of the driver.

The Grand Finals is the annual event gathering qualifiers from each participating country. The event is open to the public; tickets can be purchased on-site or via the website of NOLA Motorsports Park: www.nolamotor.com. You can also watch the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals live on the web starting with the qualifying rounds at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13 right up to the finals on Saturday, November 16 by following this link: http://rgf-2013.kart-data.com
