The first World title of the season will be awarded in Varennes this weekend. As many as 86 drivers in KZ2 and a not-so-impressive entry list of 38 drivers in KZ made the trip to France for one of most exciting, top level events of the season.
Among them, former F1 driver Jaime Alguersuari will take on the grids in KZ along with former World Karting champions like Jonathan Thonon, Bas Lammers, Marco Ardigò, Davide Foré, Arnaud Kozlinski and more.
So far, Free Practice showed Kozlinski and Hanley hitting the fastest laps both stopping 51"400.
In KZ2, besides the current European Champion Emil Antonsen, the starting grid is filled with the best drivers in the category, but seen the technical value present it's impossible to name a favourite or make any predictions. Suffice to say that yesterday's Free Practice showed Boccolacci and Laurent stopping fastest lap below the 52" mark.
Also, completing the program, the 3rd and final round of the Academy Trophy will award the crown after what is expected to be a thrilling weekend. With 23 drivers on starting grid, the two favourites Max Potty from Belgium and Pedro Piquet from Brazil will put up a great show.
The weather is quite unstable, showers are expected but forecasts seem to predict a dry race both on Saturday and Sunday.
Qualifying practice will get going at 12.30, with six KZ2 heats to be raced in the afternoon.
