Following a hesitation at the start, Verstappen gets taken by Pex and Lennox at the first corner, and then has a contact with Abbasse before the next one having to retire there and then. Pex is in the lead, but in a matter of few laps Lennox, Leclerc, Abbasse and Ardigò move past him. The order will change only beyond the top-5 positions, with Hanley losing the battle for 6th to Thonon and Lammers (later excluded for being underweight) with 2 laps to go.
