TEMECULA, CA (June 7, 2013) – A record-breaking SpringNationals event in April is leading to big expectations for the upcoming Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SummerNationals. The fourth annual event returns to the Grand Junction Motor Speedway in western Colorado on the July 19-21 weekend. The first stop of the 2013 Pro Tour program welcomed a record 227 entries to the event in Tucson, marking the first time a non-SuperNationals event eclipsed the 200-mark. The previous was set at the SummerNationals held last year in Utah. Teams and drivers are now preparing for the challenging 9/10-mile Grand Junction circuit that hosted the SummerNats in 2011.
“We were thrilled with the numbers at the SpringNationals, and are very much looking forward to our trip to Grand Junction for the next two rounds,” stated Superkarts! USA CEO Tom Kutscher. “The last two Pro Tour race weekends have been our biggest to date, and I believe this next one could be even bigger. There is no other reason to come to Grand Junction, other than to race one of the smoothest and most-enjoyable tracks in the United States. We will continue with our positive and fun-filled SKUSA atmosphere, with a possible endurance race in the rental karts Thursday night, followed by a complimentary dinner Friday night before things get serious on Saturday and Sunday. Anyone would be crazy if they were to miss out on this event.”
The Superkarts! USA Pro Tour prize purse will see another $1750 shelled out at the SummerNationals to winners in the two Pro categories – S1 and TaG Senior. The top driver in each category on the weekend will leave with a $1000 check, with the remaining funds awarded to second and third. And just like the SpringNationals, SKUSA is offering a $1000 weekend purse to the rest of the classes – with money awarded to the top 3 in points for every class to hit the 30-entry mark at the event. The SpringNats saw S2 Semi-Pro, S4 Master Stock Moto and TaG Cadet race for cash, with similar results expected in Grand Junction, adding to one of the largest prize purses in North America.
Competitors will have an opportunity to test and compete on the same track layout as the SKUSA Pro Tour SummerNationals two weeks prior, as the Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge is scheduled to host their fourth and fifth rounds on the July 5-7 weekend. That event will be the final time the Grand Junction facility will run in the normal clockwise track configuration until the weekend of the SummerNats. More information about this event will be posted shortly at the Rocky Mountain PKC section of the Superkarts! USA website. Competitors who take advantage of racing the SummerNationals ‘warm-up’ may have the opportunity to park their haulers or trailers in the same pit location they will use for the SummerNationals weekend, and be able to leave them there for the two weeks in between events (at no additional cost). Racers who compete in the Rocky Mountain PKC and SummerNationals will also earn another step in the SKUSA SuperNationals Priority Entry Program, with details set to be released next week.
Superkarts! USA is happy to announce that pre-registration is now open for the SummerNationals 2013 event. Competitors have from now until Sunday, July 14 at midnight to submit their registration at pre-entry pricing. Pre-entry fees of $395 for S1 Pro Stock Moto and TaG Senior, along with $350 for all other classes, include the Friday practice day, Saturday and Sunday race day fees, and driver pit pass. All classes will have a cap of 40 entries, so competitors are encouraged to register online as soon as possible at the following link (http://www.skusastore.com/product-p/protour-entry-sumr13.htm). Race tires, race fuel/oil and hot pit passes can be purchased right online with your race entry, and any other necessary race items for this event are also available thru the online store until the July 14 deadline at www.skusastore.com
