KUBICA’S NEW RK CHASSIS PICTURES

The first exclusive pictures of Robert Kubica’s new RK chassis by Birel!
2009 will see the first Polish driver in history to get to Formula 1 actively participating in the management of a team that will entry the main international KF class events, like the WSK championship, the European Championships, the World Cups and the KF1 World Championship. Robert will be supported by Pietro Sassi, important technician who has operated for many years at top levels, with the role of team manager.

“Karting is a usual training feature for me, therefore I can also provide technical opinions and advice, actively collaborating with Pietro Sassi who will be in charge of the operative management of the team, as well as with Birel technicians and the pilots of the official team. Regarding the names of the pilots, we are assessing applications for all the three KF classes, and might get directly involved in KZ category," Robert said.

Rumours in the paddock tell that Polish driver Karol Basz, who raced with Birel in 2008, has been offered a seat. Also, Italian Antonio Piccioni has been called from FAKart to join in as a KF1 driver. Antonio has already tested the KZ model in Siena on 14th November, before Pietro Sassi and Robert himself. “I did 50 laps in total - reveals Antonio - and I have to say that it took me a couple of laps to get used to KZ racing style, as I never tried it before. Overall the kart seems really good, very well balanced, and its development is at an advanced stage. I will surely do KF1 next season, and we are still deciding whether to do KZ too.”
