KZ World Cup Star-packed entry list

- News and Previews

The entry list of the KZ1-KZ2 World Cup has been finalized, and guess what, it’s virtually impossible to predict who the final winner will be, as all the top drivers will be in Sarno on 1-2nd September to contest the gearbox World Cup titles.

The 2011 European and World Cup winners in both KZ1 and KZ2 (De Conto, Federer, Thonon and Hanssen) will be taking on the grids in the queen class. Also, 2012 European KZ1 champion Jorrit Pex is first on the list, as well as the moral winner and twice KF1 World Champion Marco Ardigò, who will give everything he’s got to forget the disappointing epilogue of the German weekend. Watch out also for Davide Forè, Bas Lammers, Yannick De Brabander, Arnaud Kozlinski, Rick Dreezen, Anthony Abbasse, and two-time World Cup winner Francesco Laudato, la crème de la crème of world-class karting. In the list of 39 drivers, only one is from outside Europe, as Gabriel Dias is set to take on the grids on a Maxter-powered Crg.

In KZ2 (107 drivers), predictions are just as daunting, with 2012 Euro Champ Simas Juodvirsis having a slight edge on the field as a result of the dominating performance in Wackersdorf. His teammate Michele Di Martino deserves a mention, as well as Jan Midrla, Riccardo Negro, Lennox-Lamb and Tiene of the Crg squad, the new entry Max Verstappen - at his international debut in the gearbox class – and the pleasant comeback of 1999 Formula A European Champion Julien Poncelet with ART Grand Prix.
Worth mentioning the participation of four non-European drivers: Philip Orcic from Canada, Ricky Capo and Kyle Ensbey from Australia, and Daniel Bray from New Zealand.

To conclude, a second chance to test the new configuration of Sarno circuit (after the first test session on 10-13th July) referred to as “fast layout”, is scheduled on 21-25th August. But as recently announced by the CIK, engine manufacturers and teams wishing to take part in the test (which will also be the occasion for the CIK to test the noise control system) must confirm their presence to the CIK-FIA before 10th August.
