Pista Azzurra, Jesolo 25-27th May 2012. The first edition of the Coppa dei Campioni (Champions’ Cup) for vintage karts organized by ASI (AutoMotoClub Storico Italiano) on the Pista Azzurra in Jesolo (Italy) proved a real success. Over 170 go-karts divided into 9 categories – from 1956 to 1991 – were on display and raced over the weekend.

Many protagonists from the past also joined in to participate in the event, and also to celebrate CIK 50th anniversary. The event, supervised by former Race Director Gianfranco Riva, was held over two days during which the karts were accurately displayed and then taken to the track in a non-racing format, equally spectacular.
Giorgio Formini, ASI Director for the karting sector and liaison with karting manufacturers said that the goal is to organized more events in the future to promote the sport of karting. He also invited all Italian promoters to organize vintage kart events following the guidelines of this CIK-backed Coppa dei Campioni. This way, he hopes to create an international network of vintage kart events that aims exclusively at the promotion of karting.
