Parrilla uncut: Senna was to quit F1 for karting

- News and Previews

Following the interview published on Vroom April 2010 issue, Angelo Parrilla talks once more of his privileged relationship with 3-time F1 World Champion Ayrton Senna.

During a recent interview posted by Dutch website Nab.nu, the renowned manufacturer of Dap karts and mentor of Ayrton Senna in his karting days,  reveals more details of the glorious, tragic history of the Brazilian champion.

"Few days before he died (at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix in Imola) he called me - says Parrilla. "This was on Friday, and he said 'I want to stop, the car is not handling... I want to stop.' So I asked what he wanted to do with his life, and he said 'I want to start producing karts in Brazil, can you help me?' and I said of course."
Then, the two set out to meet the following day in Milan, but "he decided the wrong way to stay there, and he was killed" - concluded Parrilla.

As everyone remembers, Ayrton was killed two days later when the steering column of his Williams broke at the Tamburello turn on lap 7.
