The cooperation between the Tony Kart Racing Team and KTR started when two promising young drivers, Yu Kanamaru and Ignazio D’Agosto, both official Tony Kart Racing Team drivers in 2011, did an excellent job during recent collective tests with the Formula Renault 2.0 single-seaters lined up by the Belgian team led by Kurt Mollekens.
Moving from international karting to single-seater competitions is notoriously one of the most important and difficult moments during the career of young drivers. This is the reason why the Tony Kart Racing Team started a direct cooperation with a serious and professional team, KTR. In this way the Tony Kart Racing Team drivers will have a further opportunity to grow professionally, doing private tests during the whole season, following a high quality formative program.
Tony Kart Racing Team drivers have always been working in a well organized and professional way. Considering all these important aspects, the Tony Kart Racing Team has laid the basis for this cooperation with the team led by Kurt Mollekens in order to help all its talented drivers to grow in their racing career and express themselves in the best possible way.
The KTR team has been chosen in virtue of the professionalism and reliable sporting and technical know-how they displayed in various prestigious Renault championships. The activity will especially focus on highest level and professional competitions: the Renault Sport championships, a guarantee of success in motorsport.
Kurt Mollekens – KTR Team Owner: "More than 20 years ago, I started my personal racing career in karting as a Tony Kart-Marechal driver. Back then Tony Kart was the ultimate karting reference, and I don’t think this has really changed since. Therefore itis an honor for KTR to have been selected to defend the Tony Kart Racing Team’s colors in junior singleseaters. I look forward to the challenge of further developing the talent of Tony Kart's young karting protégées in motor racing, and will use all of my personal experience to guide them to success in the FR2.0 category, while already preparing them for the next step up the racing ladder."
