Bollingtoft on top in World Championship qualifying heats

With two wins and a second place, Dane Nikolaj Bollingtoft (Kosmic-Vortex) leads qualifying heats intermediate classifications at the World KF1 Championship in La Conca. Frenchman Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG-Maxter) and Englishman Gary Catt (Tonykart-Vortex), both with two wins each, are behind him.

Briton Will Stevens (Tonykart-Vortex) is fourth ahead of Marco Ardigò (Tonykart-Vortex), first Italian driver, who after getting pole position in timed practice, seemed to race with a conservative approach in view of tomorrow final session. Next, Davide Foré proved to be in form despite taking a risk with an engine problem. Mark Litchfield, also on Maranello, is ahead of Manuel Renaudie (PDB) back at the top. Jack Te Braak (16th) and Jonathan Thonon (17th) proved fast but find themselves behind following an engine failure each. Davide Gaggianesi (13th) and Luca Giacomello (18th) are also promising for Italian colours.

Alessandro Bressan has instead a lot to regret: the very fast Kosmic driver spun during the formation lap of one heat, and was disqualified from another heat - after coming back to 5th - for restarting his kart with the help of his mechanic and an external battery. According to the regulations (difficult to understand) it’s a case of “non-authorized external help” that leads to disqualification! 3rd in his final heat was not enough for the Italian driver to make it to the final 34, by only two positions. Manetti and Guignet, two protagonists got struck by bad luck and are also out.

As far as KF2 World Cup, there are still 3 heats to be raced (scheduled early on Sunday). Flavio Camponeschi dominated so far the heat session, following his second fastest laptime in timed practice behind Andrea Dalé.
