Umberto Pavesi, one of the godfathers of 125cc gearbox engines and winner of several world championship titles, passed away this morning 24th October following a long period of poor health. His son Riccardo gave the news earlier today.
The legendary engine tuner left a profound mark in the history of international karting. Umberto started as a very promising driver, winning the Italian Championship in Fano in 1975. He then moved on to become one of the most innovative engine tuners and manufacturers of his era, revolutionizing the technique in the 125cc gearbox class. He quickly changed from artisan to industrial manufacturing process, which put him and his engines at the forefront of the category. Over 25 years of bussiness, Pavesi collected many successes at national and international level thanks to products that superbly mixed tradition and innovation, power and reliability.
Everyone at Vroom wishes to send the most heartfelt condolences to the Pavesi family.
