The Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Golden Trophy has succeeded yet again in keeping the race fans on the edge of their seats, as the drivers battled it out for every position and ultimately, the top place on the podium. The racing action came thick and fast on Sunday, when the high level competition was hit with a blast of Belgian weather at the Karting Genk venue.

The initial race day was a mix of different winners and several showing their dominance on all counts during Saturday’s qualifying heats at Karting Genk. 24 races kept the drivers busy on track lapping the 1,360-metre circuit as they fought for positions to make the final cut. Only the 2-speed DD2 classes with single grid entries would avoid the second chance race. The battle for the Golden Trophy is about to get very serious as the finals play out Sunday.

Just to keep things interesting, the scattered rain falling over parts of Europe arrived late Friday afternoon to spice up the official timed practice at the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Golden Trophy. After Mini MAX had finished their sessions, the Juniors were not so lucky, split by more than 10 seconds between the faster and slower groups, as the Karting Genk circuit soaked up the water and mixed up the results. By the end of the program, the track was already drying out considerably as the DD2 Masters reached the five-minute mark.

The fifth and final round of the Rotax MAX Challenge Portugal took place at the Karting Circuit of Portimao over the weekend of October 21-23. This year, the national federation FPAK had granted championship status to the series in recognition of the Portuguese Rotax Champions for 2022.

The closing edition of the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy let the driver talent shine in the drenching rainy conditions during the event on September 16 - 18 at Wackersdorf, Germany. Bringing the four-round 2022 series to a close, the wintery wet weather proved to be an absolute game-changer in the results, ultimately impacting the championship standings to a degree as well. The RMC Euro Trophy titles were awarded to Great Britain’s Ethan Jeff-Hall (Junior MAX), Sean Butcher (Senior MAX) and Mark Kimber (DD2), plus Germany’s Denis Thum (DD2 Masters).
